The Magic

kg//Stories + Stills
Your Stories
mean
everything
to me

"... but how did it feel?"
Not long ago, someone asked me if I thought this thing we call photography was an art or a science. I hazard a guess that it's neither: It's an intuition. It's enough science to know your tools, certainly, and it's enough art to visualize the end result before you lay eyes on it, but more than that it's an ability to see a story unfold before you and to catch the in-betweens and the in-your-face scenes. It is with great joy that I find the moments that will not just remind you how it looked, but also how it felt. When you pull out the photo book 15 years from now, I want the magic of your story to transport you back in time to that starry eyed moment.
I'll cry when you walk down the aisle. I guarantee it.

My Work Is:
Intentional, emotional, and collaborative
The love story already exists within you.
It's simply my job to show it off.
I'll use
movement + stillness,
light + shadow,
posing + spontaneity
to bring the color to your pages.

I'm your girl!
I'm Katelyn and I'm thrilled you're here. Here's the spark notes of what you should know about me:
I heart spreadsheets, lists, last-minute emails, meetings, Pinterest boards with 4500 pins, architectural drawings of your venue, CAD renderings of your reception layout, contact information of your florist, text messages that say "so I had this idea..."
I believe that the more prepared we are, the more fun we're going to have on your day. I'm deeply pro-silliness, pro- the bride being fed, pro- it feeling spontaneous all day long, pro- having a laugh when something goes wrong, pro- last minute schedule changes to make your day feel more like you, pro- bringing your dog, pro- joining you on the dance floor, pro- the groom saying "Wait, those photos were kinda fun."
I spent time working in corporate video content creation so I highly value preproduction so when the big stars arrive on set (that's you fyi) you know we've got a game plan in place. Consider me the executive producer while you direct and star in the show - it's my job to make sure your vision comes to life in a Big Way.
Stylistically, I'd consider myself 85% photojournalism with a 10% flair for fine art/editorial images and 5% sheer play. I edit color true to life rather than airy or moody.
